How to Disable the Black Screen for UAC in Windows Vista

Sense I am a system administrator and I just recently updated to Vista on my work PC I’ve been getting hammered by the UAC prompts. Yes we all have a chance to complain and here is my chance. After a while it gets pretty redundant. One of the problems I have with it is my graphic card will take a noise dive whenever UAC activates and goes into a secured desktop mode, the black screen overlay. Here is how you disable it in Windows Vista.

How to do it?

In the Start Search type in Local and find the Local Security Policy. You need admin rights to run this so make sure do.

In the Local Security Policy on the left frame click the drop down for Local Policies and then Security Options.

In the right frame find the User Account Control: Switch to the secure desktop when prompting for elevation, it is near the bottom, and double click it.

Under that option click disable and click okay.

Now whenever UAC prompts open it will not have the black overlay.
