Adding a pin to your iPhone can be real helpful when you want to keep unwanted eyes from peeking at your data. It is also a good way to keep your data protected if you happen to lose your iPhone.
SettingĀ it up only takes a few seconds and is easy to configure and remove. The first thing you want to do is find the Settings icon and press it.
Near the middle of the Setting window located the General menu and press it.
Find the third group of items and press on Passcode Lock.
It will ask you to set a new Passcode and to verify it. Enter your Passcode and then Verify it.
The next window to open is the configuration. You have the options to turn it on or off. Change it, set how soon you want the passcode to be required and if you want all your data to be erased after 10 failed attempts. If you do set the erase data feature do make sure you have a pin that you will remember.
I do want to point out setting the passcode to the highest possible time, immediately, will keep your data more secure then having it delayed for a couple of minutes.
Here is what your you will see the next time you lock your iPhone.
To turn it off, simply go back to the passcode menu and press Turn Passcode Off, you will have to enter the pin before it is turned off.
Now that is set you will no longer have to worry about others trying to sneak a peek at what’s on your iPhone.
