Learning Ubuntu: How to Add Trash Can Icon to the Desktop

For us beginning to learn the ways of the Ubuntu it can be a bit difficult if certain things don’t seem familiar unlike when we use Windows. No worries though, here is an easy fix we can do to add a trash can icon to the desktop just like a Windows OS.

How to Add the Icon

First open the Terminal by going to Accessories.

In the Terminal type in this “gconf-editor” without the quotes, and press enter.

The Configuration Editor displays, navigate down to Apps / Nautilus / Desktop. Then Check the trash_icon_visible box.

Close all open windows and bask in the glory of the Trash can on your desktop.
