Last week I showed you How to Setup Ubuntu 9.10 Remix in Virtual Box and I saw the new beta version of Ubuntu 10.04 so I decided to show you guys how to do it too.
Download the Ubuntu 10.04 ISO
You can get Ubuntu 10.04 Beta from here. Download it and make sure you have it stored somewhere you can find it very quick.
Setting up Ubuntu 10.04 Beta
Since we already covered How to Setup a Virtual Machine in Virtual Box with no operating system, and we also covered How to Mount an ISO file in Virtual Box, we will jump ahead to installing Ubuntu 10.04 Beta.
Just like the other Ubuntu versions you have a choice to install it or to try it. If you want to take the time to try it out before installing it I recommend doing so. For this article we will click Install Ubuntu 10.04. Also make sure you select your language to the left.
The next screen your time zone. Select the appropriate time zone and click Forward.
Next up is your keyboard layout. Make sure you have selected the right one. You can type in the text box to test it. Click Forward to continue.
The next step is where you want to physically store Ubuntu 10.04. Since this is a new VM we will use the defaults. If you are installing multiple operating systems on a single VM make sure you allocate enough space for each one. Click Forward after you have finished with your adjustments.
The next step is your username and password. Click Forward after you have entered them.
The review, we are almost done! Double check to make sure your settings are correct and click Install to begin.
Installing will take some time.
After the install is over click Restart Now. You will need to remove the Ubuntu 10.04 ISO unless you want to go through these steps again.
Press the Enter key after you’ve removed the ISO.
You are finished! There are a ton of new features to Ubuntu 10.04 that we will be getting into in the up coming weeks. For now enjoy your VM.
