Internet Explorer has come a long way. I still remember the days when I would choose Internet Explorer, or IE, over other browsers, like Firefox, just because I thought IE was the best. Well nowadays, I have a new friend, Google Chrome. I still like using IE for some stuff, mainly checking out webpages in IE, especially now that IE 9 is out and has a ton of improvements. On the other hand, Google Chrome keeps getting better and better, and it looks like IE is always a step behind. If you are like me and have a different browser, beside IE as your default browser you problem want to uninstall it. If you have IE 9 install you might not even noticed when it was installed, or probably can’t find the uninstaller to remove it. Here is how to uninstall Internet Explorer 9 from Windows 7.
Uninstall Internet Explorer 9
Internet Explorer 9 comes as a Windows update. This is why when you go to the Programs and Features folder you cannot find the uninstaller. To remove IE9 open the Programs and Features menu from the Start Search by typing in Programs and Features.
From the Programs and Features menu click on View installed updates from upper left hand corner.
From the list of updates find the group for Windows Updates. Then locate Windows Internet Explorer 9. Right click on it and click Uninstall.
You will be asked if you are sure about uninstalling this update. Click Yes to continue.
The uninstall will take a while so be patient.
When IE 9 is uninstalled you will need to Restart your computer. Click the Restart Now to do so.
Following the steps above will completely uninstall IE9 from your Windows 7 computer. You will still have Internet Explorer 8 installed though. If you do not want IE8 installed either, you can follow these instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 8 from Windows 7.
