One of my favorite new features to Vista and 7 is the Snipping Tool. I use it every day for all of my post but sometimes I have to use a XP machine. This is where we have the problem. But I have a solution and it is called Snippy!
Using Snippy
Snippy is a stand alone application that doesn’t require you to install anything. Just download it and run it. It will immediately show in your taskbar, in the notification area.
Just like the balloon pop up stated click on the icon to copy a region. If you want to capture a rectangular region just hold the shift key to do it.
As you can tell form the snip above, it has a horrible red border to it. We all know how much I hate borders around snips! Go over to the Snippy icon in the notification section and right click and to to Settings.
Under the Snippy Settings you can change the Stroke Width to Zero and that will remove the border.
Conclusion
This is the best snipping tool replacement I have used for XP. It doesn’t do everything the snipping tool does but it is really easy to use and it also saves the captures to the clipboard right after you captured them.
