How to Keep Windows Desktop from Crashing by Sandboxing Explorer Windows.

Windows Explorer process runs a lot of important Windows stuff. When Explorer crashes, it takes everything with it, well just your desktop and the taskbar. To stop this from happening we can enable a cool little trick that will sandbox each explorer instance in its own process.

To enable this awesome feature go to an Explorer Window by right clicking on the start button and going to Open Windows Explorer.

setwindowsexplorerindifferentprocess -1

Then go to the Tools, if it isn’t there press the ALT key, and go to Folder options.

setwindowsexplorerindifferentprocess -2

Then go to View and find the Launch folder windows in a separate process.

setwindowsexplorerindifferentprocess -3

Click okay and enjoy sandboxed Explorer.
