How to Enable Ctrl+Alt+Delete for Vista Logon Screen

Older version of Windows, like Windows XP, had you use CTRL+ALT+DELETE combination to login to the system. Supposedly this is more secure yet I haven’t found a reason why….Well anyways if you use Windows Vista you might want this extra security back. Here are two ways to do this.

Method 1

Go to the Start search and type in netplwiz and hit enter.

Go to the Advanced tab and at the bottom in the Secure logon group check the box for Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete

enablecrtaltdeletevista -2

Next time you login you will be prompted with the good old Ctrl+Alt+Delete.

Method 2

Sometimes Method 1 doesn’t works here is another way to enable Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Go to the start search and type in secpol.msc

Then navigate to Local Policies \ Security Options and find the “Interactive Logon: Do not display last user name” and change it to Enabled.
