Spell check comes in handy for many applications. But some of them like notepad, Internet explorer, and more don’t have one built in. Luckily for us there is a tiny little application called tinySpell.
Using tinySpell
The tiny app tinySpell comes in many version, a free version, a paid version and a portable version. Go to the link below, to their website, and choose the one appropriate to you. For this article we will use the portable version of their software. After you installed it, or ran the portable version you will get a nice little tray icon that looks like this.
Immediately the program starts looking for errors and starts to correct them. Give it a try!
Just click on the red text in the little yellow box to get a list of the possible words.
You can always add them to the dictionary if you know it is a word. Head over to the tinySpell icon in the tray and right click on it to get the menu. Here we can do all sorts of tweaking.
Clicking on the “Open spelling window” opens a little window where you can find out how to spell a word.
Applications menu lets you choose what applications you want tinySpell to run on.
The Dictionary lets you edit what words you’ve added to the custom dictionary.
Finial menu item is Settings. Here you can tweak a lot of the setting and sound.
Conclusion
tinySpell works great with only a few problems. Just make sure you type the entire word when you want it to spell check it. tinySpell identifies words based on spaces.
